Dr. Felicia Otchet graduated cum laude from Smith College in 1991. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Cincinnati in 1996. She was employed at London Health Sciences Centre with the Behavioural Medicine Service for almost 25 years. Dr. Otchet has an adjunct faculty appointments at Western University in Ontario. She has provided clinical supervision to dozens of students. Dr. Otchet has taught graduate level courses in Cross Cultural Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and has a strong interest in serving clients from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations/inclinations. Dr. Otchet has also served as a consultant psychologist for community agencies in the London area (e.g., CMHA Middlesex, CMHA Elgin, Wellspring London), where she provided psychological consultations for complex clients, as well as feedback and education for staff and administration.
Dr. Otchet maintains a limited private practice in which she provides psychological intervention to adults presenting with a range of health and/or mental health concerns, including medical and/or psychological disability, acute and/or chronic pain, depression, anxiety, acute and posttraumatic stress sequelae, and gender dysphoria. She has particular interests in adjustment to illness and injury, in trauma and resilience, and in coping with life transitions.
Dr. Otchet welcomes the opportunity to be more involved in improving the mental health care system locally, such as by participation in relevant forums and boards.
In her spare time, Dr. Otchet is a volunteer with ARF Ontario (www.arfontario.com).
In 2012, Dr. Otchet was awarded the "Public Education Award" by the Ontario Psychological Association and the "Service Provider of the Year" award by the London Regional Psychological Association.
Dr. Otchet was selected for the Pillar Community Innovation Award in 2015 for the innovative design of the Wait List Clinic at Canadian Mental Health Association Middlesex. A video for this project can be viewed here:
